DIRECTIONS

Studies show that helping others isn’t just good for them – it boosts your own mood and mental health too. So when you get involved with Hope in Action, you’re not just giving back – you’re taking care of yourself as well.

As Nevada’s only nonprofit fully focused on preventing teen suicide through honest talks and peer support, Hope Means Nevada is proud to lead this movement of hope, healing, and connection.

Operation Homefront: Support Military Kids

We’re proud to announce that our Back-to-School Brigade® is back for 2025! This annual program provides backpacks, school supplies, and gift cards to military children – helping ease the financial burden for families as they gear up for the new school year.

In 2024, they distributed over 400 backpacks and supply kits across Southern Nevada. This year, they’re aiming to serve just as many—if not more.

Let’s rally around our military and veteran families—because every child deserves to start the school year with confidence.

Shine a Light Foundation: Building Care Boxes for Our Neighbors in Need

Shine a Light is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit transforming lives – one person, one connection, one step at a time. Through our Las Vegas Safety Net program, we provide innovative continuity case management that helps individuals experiencing homelessness access resources, achieve stability, and find long-term housing.

At Hope in Action, we’re building Care Boxes for those actively navigating homelessness. Each box is filled with essentials and hope. Your time and compassion matter.

Project Dot: Fight Period Poverty in Our Community

Project Dot supports people experiencing homelessness and low income by distributing monthly hygiene kits in small, decorative bags to shelters and schools across Las Vegas.

Period poverty is a gender equity issue – many girls miss school because they can’t afford pads or tampons. That can add up to 144 missed days a year.

Each kit includes a one-month supply of menstrual products, basic hygiene items, and a few self-care touches – plus a kind note to remind them they matter.

Green Our Planet

A movement of passionate teachers, principals, students, parents, and community members who yearn to put their hands in the dirt, to pull a ripe tomato from a vine, who deeply need a connection to the planet. They believe that every student deserves the opportunity to learn science outside in a school garden and/or in a hydroponics laboratory, to learn how to eat and live a healthy life, and to connect with the planet and nature in a meaningful way. Alongside their team, they are on a mission to increase joy and equity in communities across America and around the world by empowering people to grow food and connecting them to the magic and majesty of the Universe.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada

Girl Scouts create the world they want to live in and strive to make it better every single day. They explore their strengths, take on new challenges, and can always be themselves, regardless of background or ability.

Supported by adult volunteers and mentors right here in our community, as well as millions of alums around the globe, Girl Scouts lead the way as they discover who they are and how they can make the future a brighter place.
