Ella King

Teen Committee Chair

Hope Means Nevada

Ella King is a sophomore at Coronado High School and is a 2022 Co-Chair for the Hope Means Nevada Teen Committee. She is passionate about advocating for mental health awareness both in and out of school. When she was only a 6th grader, she had the tragic experience of having a middle school peer commit suicide. She has seen the impact of mental health issues on her community, especially during the pandemic, and is hoping to bring attention and support to the rapidly rising rate of teen suicide. Working towards her goal, she has testified in front of the Nevada State Treasurer to raise awareness about this public health crisis, participated in teen mental health discussion panels and created videos on social media. Her personal focus is on suicide prevention and she hopes to create easier access to mental health specialists and foster an understanding amongst her peers on how to recognize the signs of mental health problems and how to help themselves and each other.

Ella is enrolled in the AP Academy at Coronado High School. She has competed on the Varsity Swim Team and the Varsity Cross Country Team and is currently in her first season of Track and Field. She is also an active member of Varsity Quiz and Mu Alpha Theta. Additionally, she loves spending time with her family and friends, playing the piano, hiking and reading. Her pride and joy is her 5 year old English Retriever named Midas.
